PlateCool Frame — cooling rack for print plates
A parking spot for the hot plate, so you don't scrape it while it's hot.
- Material
- PETG
- Layer height
- 0,2 mm
- Print time
- ca. 4 h
The print is done, the part looks good — and then the voice speaks up: get it off, right now. What follows is a scraper, a scratch, and a PEI sheet that has lost its texture.
That's exactly how this frame came about.
It's the parking spot for the hot plate: take it out, lay it down, let it cool in peace — while the next plate is already working in the printer. Once cooled, a lot of parts come off almost by themselves.
What it does
- vented sides, so the heat leaves instead of building up
- four holes for hanging — workshop walls never have enough hooks
- the plate rests on the frame without its underside touching down
One note that's meant seriously
Print plates get properly hot. Take care lifting them out — and print the frame in PETG or better. PLA gives way under a freshly removed plate.
Printing
- 0.2 mm layer height, 2 wall lines
- no supports
- PETG; ASA if things get particularly warm
